Summary:
This week on twitter, I learned more about my animal and potential problems that I can address solutions to in my advocacy project. First, I used Dr. Haas's ChatGPT advice to search up problems about wolves. I first search up "What are some problems that wolves face in America?". This question provided me with many answers that I scrolled through until I found the most interesting one: human-wolf conflicts. I asked ChatGPT to dive deeper into this topic and I picked the one that I wanted to advocate for the most: wolves preying on livestock and how this causes tension between humans and wolves. Moving on to part two, I googled human wolf conflicts and came across an article explaining methods on how to relocate wolves to areas with less human activity. This article taught me a lot on the importance of repopulating wolves and conservation methods. I also tweeted about this YouTube video from National Geographic explaining the need to regulate red wolf populations as they are close to being extinct. The two organizations I talked about for part three were Wolf Conservation Center and Red Wolf Coalition. The Wolf Conservation Center educated me on how severe wolf poaching is and how wolves only have 10% of their original land in the United States. This is an unfortunate fact that inspired me to dive deeper into conservation methods in order to protect these fascinating creatures. The Red Wolf Coalition specialized in red wolves and informed me about long-term conservation plans for red wolves. There are only 20 left in the wild and action must be taken now if we want to save them. Overall, I learned a lot about conservation methods and resolutions between humans and wolves this week on twitter. I look forward to researching more for the advocacy project.
