Twitter Reflection
My first experiences with twitter this week were quite interesting. I learned a lot about different researchers and how they use twitter to advocate and teach their followers about animals. I was also able to follow my classmates and learn about what animals they find interesting. It was nice to see the different types of animals that my peers want to focus their research on. Me specifically, I want to dive into research about wolves so I posted three very important articles on basic information about wolves.

My favorite is definitely a blog that explains how wolves use their hierarchy to maintain order and survival within the pack. I found it very interesting how complex and intelligent the wolves are. I also followed many researchers in the field of canines that will help me during my research process of wolves. In particular I enjoyed the content of Oliver Starr, he is a wolf advocate and writer. His content revolves around protecting wolves and their respective habitats. Dr. Sarah-Elizabeth Byosiere is also a very well-known doctor and researcher to posts consistently about canines (focus on dogs) and spreads information on their behavior and what it means. I enjoyed many of my classmates posts as well. Tiffany Nguyen posted an article pertaining to how penguins communicate with each other and how they can also recognize each others vocal sounds like humans do.

This was a great article that portrays the intelligence and similarity that penguins have to humans. While scrolling through all the posts from my other peers, I found many interesting articles. It was nice to see a diversity of animals that students found interesting. However, I also stumbled upon many sad posts that brought my attention to animal brutality. For example, Oliver Starr reposted a story from Wolf Conservation Center about how a man injured a wolf, brought it to his home, and then shot it dead. This was a very sad story that shocked me about how bad these innocent animals are treated. Going forward, I plan to do my best to conduct thorough research and advocate against the brutality against wolves and other canines. This week was a great start and set the foundation for the future of my time in this class.
